Invercargill is the southernmost and westernmost city in New
Zealand, and one of the southernmost cities in the world.
Invercargill is on the Southern Scenic Route and is the
southern gateway to the Southland heartland, Stewart Island,
Fiordland and the Catlins. The Southland Museum is home to
live tuatara lizards. It has an excellent range of shops
and a selection of lively bars and restaurants. Victorian,
Edwardian and Art Deco heritage buildings give the city a
charming old-world character.
